Amensia: The Bunker, the “unscripted” WWI horror from SOMA developer Frictional Games, has been pushed back from its original March release window to May 16.
The fourth game in the Amnesia series, which follows 2021’s The Dark Descent, A Machine for Pigs, and Rebirth, The Bunker strays a bit from Frictional’s traditionally linear horror stories, promising “unscripted” scares in a half nightmare -open world.
Taking place in the claustrophobic confines of a dimly lit underground bunker, the latest installment of Frictional casts players as Henri Clément, a French soldier hunted by an “adaptable” otherworldly creature. To escape his clutches, players, armed with a revolver and a noisy dynamo flashlight, must explore and experiment, using quick thinking to deal with objects, threats, and resources that change every playthrough.
Addressing its decision to delay Amnesia: The Bunker from its previously announced March release window, the studio explained“The team here at Frictional has had a tough winter with a lot of illnesses affecting development. We’re a small team and things like this have a big impact on production.”
“It’s important to us to do the game justice,” he continued, “and in light of these production stops, we don’t want to rush the final product. The team is working hard to make The Bunker the best it can be.” be, and a few more weeks will make all the necessary difference.
Amnesia: The Bunker will be available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC (via Steamthe epic shopY GOG) when its newly announced release date of May 16 arrives. Until then, the curious may want to check out the clips of gameplay Frictional has been sharing on your YouTube page.
