‘They are not afraid’: Tucker explains why Italians chose Giorgia Meloni

Fox News host Tucker Carlson laid out the reasons why Giorgia Meloni won Sunday’s election in Italy during his Monday night show.

“You can’t tell people who are in charge of their own government: ‘It’s a democracy, we promise!’ – and ignore for decades their strongly held views about the things that matter. That doesn’t work in the long run. They will riot, guaranteed,” Carlson said. “The best you can hope for is that they do it peacefully. In Italy they seem to be doing that. This summer, a conservative populist named Giorgia Meloni began showing strong support in the polls.”

Carlson pointed out that the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, made comments that some Italian politicians took as a threat. Italian voters on Meloni’s potential to win the elections. Meloni’s coalition won 45% of the vote in Sunday’s election, Reuters reported. “My approach is that any democratic government that is willing to work with us, we are working together,” von der Leyen said Thursday. according to to Reuters. “If things go in a difficult direction, I have talked about Hungary and Poland, we have tools.”

“Oh, if things go in the wrong direction, in other words, if voters disobey, we have tools. Oh, you do, right? Well, that sounds like a threat, of course, because it is a threat. It turns out that the Italians are so desperate that they no longer care, they are not afraid. They are not afraid because the neoliberalism that this lady defends has destroyed her country,” said Carlson. “Energy prices in some places in Italy are up 400% from last year. Why? A senseless war in Ukraine and a self-destructive climate policy. It’s not an accident, and everyone knows it.”

Carlson said Meloni’s opposition to those policies led to her election victory on Sunday. “Last night her party called Brothers of Italy won an overwhelming victory in Italy. They obtained both majorities in the houses of parliament. So by Italian standards, by American standards, this is a revolution.”

Carlson said the Liberals’ reaction to Meloni’s victory speaks volumes.

“It is her hysteria and her complete unwillingness to ask obvious questions that lets you in on the secret. That is, they are terrified because they know that the current system is doomed. In fact, what happened last night in Italy is the best scenario for them because it was a peaceful transfer of power. That’s good. Is that what you want. People in a democracy should be allowed to have some influence on the priorities of the government that claims to represent them, and when they speak in an election, people who have been disowned have a moral obligation to stop, just for a second, and ask. , ‘Why didn’t they like what I was offering them?’” Carlson said. “They have the right to have an opinion. In fact, their opinion is at the core of our system, this democracy, but they never question that.” (RELATED: ‘Fight Terror MAGA’: Watters, Hanson Blast Anti-Trump Rhetoric)

“They never take any blame at all. They didn’t do it in 2016, when Trump was elected, they immediately blamed Putin or Macedonian bot farms. They never blamed themselves, so they never learned anything from what happened. That is exactly what is happening not only on American television in Italy and also in the European Union,” Carlson continued. “The bureaucrats who led Italians to speak for change peacefully at the polls are not willing to learn from that vote. They will continue to shove their unpopular garbage down the throats of a deeply ungrateful nation until there is an actual rebellion. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen.”
